Most models are equipped with two Radiator fan mounted side by-side behind the radiator, which are protected by fuses inside the engine compartment's fuse/relay box. The PCM and three relays are used to operate the fans at Low or High speeds depending on engine needs and other conditions. Some earlier G35 Sedan models are equipped with a belt driven Radiator fan behind the radiator and an electric fan in front of the air conditioning condenser. If the engine is overheating and neither of the Radiator fan operate, check the fuses for the fans. If the fuses test good, check each Radiator fan motor by unplugging the fan motor electrical connector and applying battery power directly to the motor terminals with fused jumper wires. If a fan motor doesn't work, replace the motor. If the fan motors are okay but are still not coming on when the engine gets hot, the fan relays might be defective. Symptoms of fan clutch failure are continuous noisy operation, looseness, vibration and/or silicone fluid leaking from the clutch. To replace the electric fans, remove the grille from the bumper cover, the lower engine splash shield, the Radiator fan shroud assembly mounting fasteners, the fan blade mounting nut, the mounting fasteners for the motor and separate it from the shroud assembly. To replace the belt-driven fan, remove the air duct between the throttle body and the air filter housing, the lower engine splash shield, the lower radiator hose and the transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator, the lower radiator shroud, the drivebelts, the fan coupling (clutch) mounting fasteners from the studs on the fan pulley, the fan mounting fasteners from the fan coupling and the fan. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
