To replace the fuel pump in the module, follow these steps:Disengage the fuel pump retainer cap from the lower end of the fuel filter housing.Pull out the cap and fuel pump from the filter housing.

Relieve the fuel system pressure, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, drain the fuel tank to about the 7/8 level, remove the rear seat cushion, remove the metal access cover, disconnect the electrical connector from the terminal on top of the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module mounting flange, disconnect the fuel supply line quick-connect fitting, clean the area surrounding the retainer that secures the mounting flange for the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module, remove the retainer bolts, lift the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module up out of the tank far enough to access the fuel crossover tube, disconnect the crossover tube connector from the fuel pump assembly, remove the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module from the tank, remove and discard the old mounting flange 0-ring, inspect the condition of the fuel inlet strainer, remove and discard the old sensor mounting flange 0-ring, and install a new 0-ring when installing the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module.

If the fuel pressure is higher than the specified value, you should replace the fuel pressure regulator. The fuel pressure regulator is a component of the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module and needs to be replaced to bring the pressure within the specified range.
