Infiniti 21010-AL528 Pump Assy-Water

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the top engine cover and the engine lower splash shield, drain the cooling system, remove the air filter housing(s) and related ducts, remove the radiator hoses, remove the drivebelts, remove the timing chain tensioner and water pump covers from the timing chain cover, relieve the fuel pressure and drain the engine oil, remove the coolant reservoir, retract the timing chain tensioner plunger, remove the timing chain tensioner mounting fasteners, remove the water pump mounting bolts, move the crankshaft counterclockwise about 20 degrees, install two MS bolts, remove the MS bolts and 0-rings from the water pump, remove the old sealant from all mating surfaces, compare the new pump to the old one, remove all traces of the old 0-ring seal from the engine and water pump, install new 0-ring seals onto the water pump, carefully install the water pump, install the mounting bolts finger tight, turn the crankshaft 20 degrees clockwise, place the timing chain tensioner into position, install the mounting bolts, remove the small pin used to keep the tensioner's plunger retracted, install the timing chain tensioner and water pump covers using RTV sealant, install the timing chain cover, refill and bleed the cooling system, run the engine and check for leaks and proper operation, wait at least one hour for the sealant to cure.

Even if the water pump doesn't show obvious signs of trouble, a definitive assessment can only be made by removing it for a close examination.
