Relieve the fuel system pressure, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module and the fuel level sensor module from the fuel tank, siphon as much fuel out of the tank as you can, raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands, remove the entire rear part of the exhaust system from the flange in front of the pre-muffler to the muffler/tailpipe, remove the small heat shield mounting nuts and remove the small heat shield, remove the driveshaft, remove the parking brake cables, disconnect the rear brake caliper hoses, remove the coil springs, disconnect the upper ends of both rear shock absorbers, remove the suspension assembly support brackets, using a pair of floor jacks, support the rear suspension assembly below both ends of both crossmembers, remove the four large nuts that attach the rear suspension assembly and carefully lower the rear suspension assembly, locate the connection between the fuel filler neck hose and the fuel filler pipe at the upper rear of the fuel tank, then loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel filler neck hose, also loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel filler neck EVAP hose, support the fuel tank, remove the fuel tank strap bolts and remove the fuel tank straps, lower the tank slightly and, using a flashlight, disconnect any remaining electrical harnesses and EVAP hoses, once everything is disconnected, lower and remove the fuel tank, and installation is the reverse of removal.
